Fire performance and safety
Spanrock® stone wool insulation can withstand temperatures of up to 1000°C without a significant release of toxic smoke, helping to protect building occupants in case of an incident. Stone wool is inherently non-combustible, supporting manufacturers in achieving A2-s1, d0 classifications for the final panel according to EN 13501-1 and achieving high fire resistance classifications according to EN 13501-2.
Acoustic comfort and performance
For acoustic applications, Spanrock® stone wool insulation combined with micro-perforated internal facings helps improve sound absorption and reduce noise transmission. Sound insulation can reach Rw values of approximately 30–36 dB, while sound absorption coefficients (αw) between 0.85 and 1.00 indicate high efficiency in absorbing sound within a space, contributing to improved acoustic comfort.
Thermal efficiency and energy performance
Spanrock® helps reduce heat loss in winter and limit overheating in summer, supporting stable indoor temperatures throughout the year. Its thermal mass contributes to thermal lag, slowing heat transfer through the building envelope and reducing temperature peaks. Proper insulation can reduce heating needs by up to 70%, helping to lower energy consumption and associated CO₂ emissions over time*.

Durability and sustainability
Spanrock® stone wool insulation maintains its performance over many decades. It is fully recyclable and can be reused, supporting circular construction approaches. Spanrock® is also produced at sites where electric furnaces have been introduced to lower carbon emissions, with further electrification planned at other factories, all while ensuring consistent product quality. In addition, it is certified Cradle to Cradle® Material Health at Bronze level, ensuring that materials are contributing to safer, more sustainable building practices.
